What is a CSA?

The Bush Order CSA (community supported agriculture) program is a system of growing and distributing produce that restores the link between farmers and the surrounding communities on a weekly basis!

A CSA program is essentially a weekly subscription service of fresh, locally grown vegetables where each customer/household purchases a CSA “share”. By doing so shareholders help provide us, the growers, the capital to support the purchase of seeds, amendments, and the ability to hire help.

Over the course of 10-weeks (half-season) shareholders will have access to a CSA bundle of a variety of vegetables.

How will it work?

As this is a half-season CSA and we are already fully into the 2023 growing season, many vegetables are ready for harvesting. When signing up for a CSA share you will select which pick up location you desire. This will be where you pick-up your CSA share each of the 10-weeks. It can not change week-to-week unfortunately. On the day of your pick-up, please come to the location your selected during the predefined hours to pick-up your share. You will need to bring a reusable bag, box, or crate to collect your share as you can’t commit to having enough bags on hand.

As the Yellowknife Farmers Market will end before our CSA Program we will deliver those share during the same time period. This only affect those who select the Farms Market for pickup. Farm Store pickups will continue as normal.

What if I can’t pick-up one week?

We ask that you take responsibility for your share each week. If you will be out of town or unable to pick-up on a particular week, we please make arrangements to have it picked up by someone else, such as a friend or family member. CSA bundles are a great gift and a wonderful surprise ;).

What you will receive each week?

CSA shareholders will be able to pick up a predefined bundle of freshly harvested and washed vegetables. We aim for 5-8 seasonal items for each bundle. Most items will have been harvested that very morning, so you are receiving the freshest vegetables possible! Variety will change throughout the season as we shift from summer to fall. Some bundles may include extra surprises as and when available.

Please note that the size of the weekly bundles will depend greatly on what is ready for harvest. As such some weeks may be smaller than others, whereas some weeks might be more bountiful.
